While I don’t necessarily advise selecting a wickedly bright bag as an investment purchase, uncommon – and often impractical – colors can be so appealing, if only just to browse. They are youthful, unexpected, and ensure you’ll get noticed even if the rest of your look consists of the most mundane jeans and T-shirt. So if you were going for a high-wattage bag, which would it be?

Givenchy’s “Nightingale” bag, a new-classic style, is reminiscent of a big wad of watermelon taffy in this edible shade of pink.

Givenchy “Nightingale” Medium Shoulder Bag in Pink on Luisa Via Roma for $2,155.

If you prefer natural sugar to artificial, Dolce & Gabbana’s ladylike “Miss Sicily” top-handle satchel looks packed with Vitamin C.

Dolce & Gabbana “Miss Sicily” Top Handle Bag in Orange on Luisa Via Roma for $1,807.

Purple is even funkier in oversized ostrich-effect PVC courtesy of Marc by Marc Jacobs (and the price tag is easier to swallow for a shade you might tire of quickly).

Marc by Marc Jacobs “Lucy” Ostrich-Effect PVC Tote on Net-a-Porter for $400.

Perhaps ultra-violet is more your thing. Mulberry’s “Bayswater” has gotten a nearly neon makeover.

Mulberry “Bayswater” Leather Bag on Net-a-Porter for $1,200.

We know everyone has been going green lately, just not necessarily when it comes to handbags. Maybe it’s time to change that! Fendi’s take on their “Selleria” shoulder bag might blend in with the grass at your picnics.

Fendi “Selleria” Shoulder Bag at Barneys New York for $2,050.

Valextra’s super-shiny and rotund “Namaste” hobo in bright pool blue might invite you to jump right in. You’ll be in the deep-end of color with this turquoise tote.

Valextra “Namaste” Big Hobo at Barneys New York for $1,680.
