A whole decade later and KEXP Expansions’ annual celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is still one of the hottest nights of electronic music in town! This Sunday, January 17, come down to Neumos and commemorate the holiday with our very own DJ’s Riz, Masa and Kid Hops, and very special guests SunTzu Sound.
This event is free with a valid KEXP membership card and only $7 at the door, Moe Bar and online (21+), what better way to let loose than at a live broadcast of Seattle’s best electronic dance grooves show, Expansions. And, since most of you have Monday off, there’s no excuse not come out and dance. Doors open at 8 p.m., the live broadcast starts at 9PM and the party doesn’t stop ’til 2AM!
Expansions was born in 1995 as Riz Rollins’ response to the mushrooming acid jazz scene that was booming in local clubs, but not on Seattle airwaves. From its inception, the show has thrived on variety and collaboration, always including three hosts to keep a diverse atmosphere of style and sound. The result is 3-packed hours of eclectic programming including trip-hop, chill, ambient, drum and bass, house, dub, electronica, jazz, sometimes world music and even a bit of rock. Expand your mind every Sunday from 9 p.m.to Midnight with Expansions’ current hosts DJ Riz, Masa and Kid Hops.
